The theory of social learning is the last one we learned in this training and it is very relevant to me. It says that we learn by interacting with the environment and observing how others behave and the outcomes of those actions, and that’s it. To learn, I need to communicate with the content, the lecturer and everyone else. When I said that I was an introvert, no one believed me because I was always in the “go” state. For me, learning is so important, interaction can reflect my needs, not my personality type.
Observe how others do things, think about how it reflects what I have learned, and then try again. I think this is essential. It is also important to be able to work with others, interact with each other, act as a live model, compare what I know and what I have learned, and experience information from different perspectives. One of the experiments we did in this class was to help me restate what I am writing here, this is the inventory survey we conducted before the first day of the course. The results show that I am a visual and kinesthetic learner.
In my daily ESL guidance, I always put social learning theory into practice. I modeled and caught the attention of the students to better learn the acceptable behavior of the course in practice. I teach them how to set realistic goals for them and how to achieve them based on their level of English knowledge. I want to give them some time to practice with others and practice with others or to experience a given concept. I promote discussion, twinning and twinning reviews. I arranged time for them to ask questions and link new information with old information. I teach them how to learn the same exercises and discuss their findings from different angles to learn. By the way, the reinforcements I use can “shape” the acceptable methods in a variety of classroom situations. We like to learn from each other.
Therefore, I think the best way to learn for me is to use social learning theory.
